Whats been happening out in my garden lately? A Little and a Lot!
My small Veggie patch/Herb garden has been overcome with shade but few things are finally starting to grow and we are producing once again.

Some nice fresh beans for dinner,  we usually get a small handful like this everyday, it's nice to enjoy a fresh bean for dinner if they make it to the table...Last night we all got one each!

The Wild Mulberries plants I tore up from the side of the road have grown so well, even though they have been transplanted a couple of times already it seems to be very hardy plant this one...Can you see it's little Mulberry?

And the Black Mulberry Tree has a fruit!  Don't get too excited, no Mulberry picking adventures just yet, I'll need about 99 more of these to make a Pie!

 

 A small Papaya has so far escaped they eye of my little gatherers.

We have very nice looking Mandarins, just starting to show a tinge of orange on their skins

and I picked one of these Oranges yesterday.....

Yum, sweet young Navels.

BUT by far the  most exciting thing that has happened in my garden this week has been the Completion of my long awaited 

New Veggie beds...

I'm so excited, I now have a 

REAL VEGETABLE GARDEN

Hubby managed to get them finished just in time for 

Mother's Day. 

Now just awaiting a big fat truck load of Organic Soil, and one of these Fabulous Diggers books I am hoping to Win from the 

Mud Pie Giveaway

Mulberries

What a sight today on the side of a not so busy country road...Mulberry Trees full of ready to EAT Mulberries. I have childhood memories of picking Mulberries from the neighbours tree on my way home from School, and Mulberry fights with my cousins from the wild Mulberries that grew on the creek bed on my Nana's farm. Mmmm ever so sweet and tangy, I have to share these with the family....1, 2, 3,4,5 all out of the car...today we are Mulberry picking! Yum!!! I need these growing in my backyard. I noticed a few runners growing from the trees so with hands stained black and purple I sneaked a few out of the ground and into my car. I hurried up the Mulberry pickers, much to their dislike so I could get home and get these little suckers into the ground. My vision for today is Mulberry Pie with Mulberries picked from our own mulberry trees which now have a new home right next door to the chook coop (more about the chooks later...) The chook manure should fertilise my trees and once my trees grow up, the chooks get to enjoy the Ripe Mulberries which fall to the ground...that is if we don't get them first. We're going to need a lot of Mulberries to keep all our tummies satisfied. So excited...We're on our way! I'm so inspired to get to the markets to buy more fruit trees, they say the best time to plant fruit trees was 5 years ago, the next best time is NOW!
