What a productive weekend we've all had. In our backyard we have two decent size imperial mandarin trees which produce loads of fruit each year. Mandarins are one of my favourite fruits, they are great to pack into the childrens lunchboxes easy to peal and great to juice up for a refreshing hit of Vitamin C and apparently, they also go well cooked with chocolate. . .
Master Sam is usually the driving force behind our juicing day, his little helpers collect the mandarins, the kitchen is set up, and the juicing begins. This is where I usually leave the room with my face screwed up thinking about the sticky mess they are about to create, but the kids don't mind, it's such fun, it 's messy, and of course its Yummy!
We picked over 100 mandarins off the trees and squeezed out about 5 litres of fresh juice to enjoy
and look, we've still got heaps left for those Lunchboxes...
Such a lot of fruit. That does look like fun. Hope they also cleaned up and didn't leave it to you.
ReplyDeleteWhat a very productive team you have in your lovely new kitchen Karen.
ReplyDeleteI'm sure it was all worth it ..... and I'm sure they all helped you clean up :)
We love our mandies too. The juice so much sweeter than the oranges.
cheers Wendy
Oh my goodness, that's amazing! SO much fruit. This gives me hope for my piddly little mandarin tree that I planted in front of the chook pen..with only a solitary fruit on it! Beautiful pictures!
ReplyDeleteThat is one production line. The bottles of juice look so enticing that I am going to juice some oranges to have with dinner.
ReplyDeleteYour children are so cute.
Great idea, we often have a lot of mandarins spare. This looks like a good way to use them all up!
ReplyDeleteGosh your trees are covered. How lovely with your kids working together.

Wow that is some serious juice action and love that peek into your lovely kitchen. melx
ReplyDeleteyum, how good is that? well worth the mop up. What an awesome tree. Must smell fantastic all in blossom.
ReplyDeleteWow, that would be great to have. I wish we could have citrus here without having to have it in a pot.
ReplyDeleteGreat production line - I apply your leave the room theory whenever my kids paint, not sure it works too well though I usually return to multicoloured floors. Perhaps I need to get them juicing instead.
ReplyDeleteOur mandarin tree is thriving again this year too. We've been eating them since the end of April, and there is still no end in sight!
ReplyDeleteI have been enjoying mandarins from a friends tree as well. Your tree looks very productive.
ReplyDeleteYou've got a new top! It looks beautiful, in fact the blog is looking really great. Your juicing session looks like ours here, but on a larger scale. We've been juicing our oranges, they make the best drink imaginable. How great to have all your helpers there. Sam looks like a resourceful boy. I wish we lived next door.
ReplyDeleteWow...what a fantastic family production and so many smiles! We have a mandarin tree hanging over our back fence which the neighbour kindly lets us pick from (as ours doesn't seem to be recovering from the wallaby attack early on in it's lofe lol)but my goodness what a wonderful big tree yours is!
