Keeping off my feet...

Some inspirational reading I have been enjoying over the past few weeks while the holidays have been winding down.
I'm looking forward to trying a few new ideas I have book marked along the way.
I've still got about 8 weeks of 'resting' to go, which I am trying my hardest to do in between all the day to day goings on of looking after a family of  seven and a half !!
Would love some suggestions to add to my reading pile.

  1. I love the look of that little yellow one on top. Sometimes there are lovely surprises in those old novels and they do evoke a different pace of life which is not a bad thing for you now. I remember everyone telling me to slow down before I had number 5 and really you have to wonder how. The nap before school pick up was pretty vital at the end!

  3. Some lovely books to rest awhile with there, I have the 'cute & easy' crochet book, some gorgeous makes in there.......I've been reading the 'Super Jam' preserves and baking book........a healthier option to make jams, jellies, marmalades and other preserves using fruit juice instead of sugar.

    take care, lily.

  5. Rest up while you can, I'm sure you've heard that before :) I like the look of the Bi-carb Soda book. I'll bet there are some great things in there. I use Bi-carb for heaps of things like cleaning drains the oven, bath and basin in bathrooms, deodorizing the fridge etc. I think it's the most versatile thing I can have in the house alongside vinegar.

  6. Glad to hear you're trying to rest up a bit. I loved Organic bodycare products and have tried heaps of the recipes in it, it really is a wonderful resource book. You may well already know it, but i love the book Nourishing traditions by Sally Fallon and The Living kitchen by Gillian Polson - A NZ companion to herbs, wholefoods, health and happiness (this is a new Zealand book and is divided month by month based on our seasons, but is still a lovely read). Take care

  8. I'd gladly recommend one I'm reading right now. It's Bringing it to the Table by Wendall Berry. I've slowed my reading right down so I don't finish it too soon.

Enjoy your reading and look after yourself.

    1. I know the feeling Rhonda, it's always a shame when you come to the last of a good book. I have heard of this book, must check it out as well! :)

    2. How have you been coping with all the rain - and now the heat? I hope you really are resting?
Re Reading - I'm guessing you would have read Jackie Frenchs' self suffiency and cooking ones? If you haven't, I'd advise seeking them out.
Enjoy this time :) cheers Wendy

    3. Hi there Duchess, I do love a good rainy day, but I am ready for it to stop now, especially as the children havn't been able to make it to school much this week.
Yes I am a bit of a Jacki French fan as well. I love her 'Chook Book". I have found myself gravitating towards a lot more crafting and crocheting these days, Just the thought of the Oven and Garden make me exhausted!
