Moving Out

Why:   For Love, Support and Stability
Where: To a very beautiful country town down in the middle of New South Wales
When:  In only a couple more days
How:   I don't really know, Truck??  BIG Truck?? and a lot of patience...

The short of the story is that a couple of months ago my husband, a self employed tradesman, had to travel away for work, unfortunately the building industry in Brissy isn't exactly booming at the moment so after much deliberation hubby headed south (back to his roots) in an effort to keep our family a float.  Turns out that he just happen to fall back in love with the south and luckily has also fallen back into some regular work as well.  After struggling to live apart for 6 weeks, him in a motel room on his own and me at home, on my own, with the 6 cherished ones, we decided enough was enough and we would move heavens and earth to be together again as a family, like we should be. So... Just Like That, We're packing up and Moving Out!
What adventures await us, I do not know but I am excited, curious and happy with the decision we have made even though it has completely turned my world upside down.
A complete new lifestyle awaits us.
I will miss everything here, EVERYTHING!!
It's our Home, every step I take I see something around me that we created, or planted, so many beautiful memories surround me. We have achieved so much on our property in the last seven years. We have extended our house to cater for our ever growing family,  we added a chook coop, a tennis court, a veggie garden, an orchid and how can we go past The Kitchen!  Aghh!!  My Dream Kitchen!!!  : (
It's been a real whirlwind around here,  I've spent the week saying goodbye to friends and family, I've broken the news to the children and their friends, there has been lots of laughter and lots of tears, and many more memories created...I have been looking into new schools, house rentals (here and down there) selling sheep, giving away chooks,  pulling down my banging wall and generally decluttering and packing up my whole house...
I'm glad I have my  Gooseberry Jam.  It'll be nice to walk back down memory lane anytime I like. I am also glad that I do not have to say goodbye to any of you, nothing changes for us, you can come with me,  see where I end up and what I get up to next.
So I'll leave you for a little while now, I've got Sooo much packing to do and so little time. My lovely friends and family have rallied together to help so I better get back to it. Wish me luck . . .
I'll see you on the other side  : )

  1. All the very, very best. Such huge changes ahead but family and stability is so important. I'd find it so hard to be away from my husband for 6 weeks, particularly with a new little one as well. It is great news that your husband has been able to find work. I expect it would be hard to leave what you have created over the years, but any house can become a home. It's the people, new memories and love that creates a home.
I look forward to hearing about your new life and adventures. xx

Wishing you all the best for the move and wish I could be there to help pack a box or two for you.
    Take care

  3. I will miss you. I was going to ask if Hanno and I could come for a visit when next we went to the Gold Coast. Oh well, maybe we'll meet again somewhere further south. I wish you and your family well with the move. Stay in touch!

  4. Will miss hearing all your adventures with the gooseberries.... I will be here ready to read when you get back to blogging. I can imagine you are feeling up and down at the moment - if I were closer I would give you a hug , so a cyber hug will have to do instead.
I know you will all be fine and embrace your new adventure and I think you are the kind of mum that make anything a home ...even if it were a tent! I look forward to seeing where you hang up your little pots and pans on the fence .
    Lots of love , Kimx

  5. I am happy and sad for you....all the things your have done your house and property but also the new adventure. Think of all the new things you can plan to do...lol. At the end of the day love and family are the main things and if that is what you have to do, then that is what you have to do! Good luck with the move and can't wait to hear from you when you are settled, hopefully you won't be too far away from me. All the best xx

  6. All the best with the move and I can't wait to see your new "nest".
My family and I are moving too, also because of Hubby's work. We are moving from Adelaide to Melbourne. Scary and exciting all at the same time really isn't it! Part of me really doesn't want to go and all the stress of selling and buying houses and interstate moves is getting to me at the moment but I know in the long run it will be okay and I know it will be for you too.

  8. Wow, that is quite some news. Good luck with the move and I'm sure that you will make a beautiful home with your loved ones wherever you are. From experience, being apart is just too hard so I am sure you are doing the right thing.

  9. I know it would be really hard to move from my house after so many years making it our own- so my heart goes out to you! Best wishes for your move and look forward to seeing you in your new space!

  11. Just keep thinking "adventure". You are wise to move down where you husband is. You need each other and so do your children. Whilst your home is lovely it, after all is just a material possession. Your treasures are your good man and those beautiful children. I wish you well with your packing and I will pray that it all goes smoothly. I'll look forward to seeing your next post.
I think you are one great wife and mama. All the best
    Blessings Gail

  12. Home is wherever your family is Karen and while I understand how hard it will be to walk away from the home you and your hubby built, new adventures await you :)
Looking forward to following your journey once you are settled.
Hope all goes well with the move.

  13. Wishing you much patience over the next little while as i know how tough it is to move with a young family....and to leave behind all that you have created! But you will indeed make some lovely new memories and will start afresh clear of clutter! Much more important to be together and move forward.....all the very best wishes and lots of luck....take care xx

  14. Oh I so know that feeling (except our kids are grown) and it is just not right being apart. Craig moved to a country town in the middle of NSW too for work. We did 6 months apart but he has been home for two weeks now and hoping to find work here. I said to him if he has to go again then I go too. Wherever you go I know you will stamp your mark and in no time you will create a home again. In these times none of know where the road will take us but at least you have each other. I will be thinking of you all and sending you my best as you all adjust and change. Look forward to seeing you again when you get settled. Love

  15. I'm so excited for you although I know how stressful the moving/ settling in period is. We moved from Sydney back to Tasmania a few months ago (with 2 less kids than you have!) so that we could spend more time together rather than my husband wasting hours a day commuting. Being together and having a regular income is so important. I have no doubt you'll be able to make an equally beautiful home in your new town. All the best! Mel x

Once you get the banging wall up down there you'll feel right at home again. Well mis you in the interim. Sorry I never got to have tea or nurse that baby! Another beautiful chapter begins.......

  23. I hope the move goes well. Packing can be such a long slow process, but it will be well worth it to be together again as a family.
Central NSW- may be somewhere near where we call home at the moment.

  31. Thanks everyone for all your support and well wishes, I'm excited and nervous and sad but we're all packed up so there's no turning back now. I'm just having one more look in before I go offline for a couple of weeks. I'll be back again soon.... :)

  32. Good luck for what sounds like a very fast EPIC move. If your craft stash is anything like mine, it will probably fill a small truck. Your gorgeous kitchen will wait for you, enjoy having some wonderful family support and a change of scene. melx

  33. Oh goodness. I can just imagine how difficult it was to have to come to that decision, just as you were getting your home and property to where you wanted it all to be. It's sad saying those goodbyes too, so cry when you need to.

Things change, as I've also just found out, and it's good to be able, once the decision has been made, to look forward to a new chapter in life with some positiveness. It's also an opportunity to demonstrate to those gorgeous children of yours that despite the sadness and the leaving, one can look forward to the future, and the different adventures awaiting us in life. Being together as a family is the important thing right now, I'd say.

    Love and best wishes,
    Maree x

  34. Phew, I hate shifting, I love being somewhere new, but the in between bit is not fun - terrible with a new born and 5 others in tow I imagine. I hate the sorting bit. Say yes to all offers of help. Big hugs and best wishes to you. That new town will be lucky to be filled with gooseberries. The most important thing is to be together and have each other.

  35. Good luck with it all - I hope everything falls into place for you like it has done for us. Moving house/towns/states is always difficult but you always have your memories. Time to move forward and create new ones in your new town. Families should always be together. Big hugs x

  36. Aww. That is just so sweet! Love conquers all indeed. ;) And, sometimes life just really surprises us with curve balls, but all with lessons and things to learn. Kudos for your strength! And good luck in packing. It would help to make a list of the things you’ve packed and which boxes they belong to. It’ll make unpacking a lot easier.

  37. I hope everything is going smoothly for you Karen as you all transition into your next chapter in life. It is so terribly hard to be apart, I can totally understand why you have made the choice and I can only imagine how hard it was closing the door one last time on your old home. But how exciting to open the door at your new home. I cannot wait to hear about and see photos of your new adventure :) Blessings to all and I hope the children and yourselves are settling ok xxx Ruth xxx

  38. Hope it's all going as well as can be. We haven't moved since I was pregnant with the first two. It terrifies me. I think of you often, you kindred soul. Your positivity is good for my soul right now. Look forward to your eventual return. X

  40. I assume you've successfully moved in to a new place already. If not, then I suggest you label those boxes that you will be using, dear. And one more thing, have plenty of boxes when moving; you'll be needing those probably more than you think. The North and South coasts of New South Wales are the best places to chill out. My cousin and I used to have a gym instructor that lives there.
