On My Mind...

I have, for various reasons had a bit of spare time on my hands this week, I have spent heaps of time out cleaning up the garden, played a little in the kitchen and also caught up on a few of my favourite Blogs and also found some fabulous new ones.  I'm sitting out in the sun this morning having my morning cuppa, It's a little bit cooler here this morning, the air has that real Autumn feel to it...no other word can describe it best as just Nice...

I'm looking at my new Granny Blanket I picked up at the Salvos just the week before last for a bargain $6.  It's actually a good queen bed size, in near perfect condition and I just LOVE the colours....I have held many a granny blanket in my hand at the op shops only to put it down again because as lovely as it was and as much as I am fully aware of the traditional anything goes colours of a granny square blanket, they just never really spoke to me like this last one did. It had a wash yesterday and is hanging over my deck rail to dry, As I sit here admiring it I realised that I should be grabbing the crochet needle and starting on one of these myself.  This has been On My Mind for a number of years now... I'm off to my mothers place for a visit this weekend, I shall get into her old craft cupboard, steel myself a needle and next time I sit out here in the sun, I shall start on my 2011 Winter Project - Crochet a Granny Square . . . !
What's on your mind today?  Join me over at Down to Earth today and see what is on everyone else mind too...

  2. Lovely blanket I can see why you were drawn to it. I love these too and have a few squirreled away for winter. I would love to crochet.... so I guess that is on my mind too. Knitting comes easily, but crochet and my brain don't connect somehow. Maybe it's because I'm left handed.

Don't know how you manage to have spare time! I work hard all day keeping up with blogs ..lol.

  4. My daughter has a Granny Blanket on her bed and it certainly is a favourite.
I would love to add crochet to the list of my very basic skills. I love the look of Ripple Blankets but I think they just look too tricky.
    $6 - what a bargain!

  6. Sounds like a great project. I love granny square blankets (on the hunt for a white one, but they never seem to eventuate in the op shops!) and own several. Your one looks like a beauty, and a great size, which is hard to find.

  9. Crocheting is a comforting and comfort-giving art. I am busy working on two granny stripe blankets, my first crochet blankets, and also on my mind today. I love the way a handmade project leaves an heirloom long after we are gone.

  16. Thanks all for your lovely comments, and a big warm welcome to my new followers. I LOVE my new blanket, it seems as though they are quite a popular item so they are hard to find. Duchess, I don't know where I find the time either...I have a saying up in my Kitchen
"If you lose an hour in the morning, then you'll be looking for it all day"
By the way, please mind the mess that is scattered around me while I take time off to Blog...Oh that's right, you'll never get to see that side of it. . .LOL!
Ali, please don't tell my mum, but I washed it in the washing machine! :)
